King Ghidorah is a character from the Godzilla films first introduced in the 1964 film Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster (otherwise known as Ghidrah the Three Headed Monster in English markets).
Through his appearances, King Ghidorah's form has been consistent through it's appearances (an armless, golden-scaled winged dragon with three heads and two tails), its origin story has varied from being an extraterrestrial demon (Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster to Godzilla vs. Gigan), and a genetically engineered monster from the future (Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah), to being a guardian of ancient Japan (Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All Out Attack).
The character is usually portrayed as an archenemy of Godzilla and Mothra except Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All Out Attack in which he is an ally of Mothra.
Although Ghidorah does not appear in the Anthro Saga, his form is used by the evil fox Scarface in Nightmare of Nome alongside Rodan. In addition, many powers and abilities of King Ghidorah are also used for the final form of Red in The King of Hell and also used for the hell fox versions of Bold, Ranger and to a lesser extent the hell hound version of Sasha le Fleur and the hell vixen forms of Whisper and Charmer.
In addition, Ghidorah's form is used for the dragon that is revered by the cult Cloak and Dagger in the Cold War II series and he is also one of many Godzilla monsters whose powers are also adapted for The Invaders.
It is Ghidorah's usage in literature that makes him a trans wiki article alongside Bounder, Ranger, the Daleks and the Cybermen as he appears on not only this wiki but the second untermation wiki. In addition, King Ghidorah is the inspiration for the character of Inhusrelun, the sworn enemy of Firroth.
